Hi!

Thanks for visiting my website! I hope you find some useful travel tips, yummy restaurants to check out, or are at least amused and entertained by a few good stories.

Day Two: Dinner at Castas e Prato

Day Two: Dinner at Castas e Prato

After only having toast and cheese all day, I was very ready for dinner! This restaurant was recommended by Rick Steves and it definitely delivered!

We were sat at a large communal table but the other people there were not close by. It was a large high top in what appeared to be the bar area but I don’t mind where we sit if the food is good!

Started with my favorite food…

Portuguese Iberian ham! 100% Ballota, 100% Delicious

Next added a ceviche which I honestly forget what made it so good because I am a day behind on the food writings but what I do remember is that the little dollop on top was a mustard ice cream and I am now obsessed with this.

Next two appetizers were oxtail something on the bottom (less notable) and on top was a partridge ravioli in a creamy sauce with morel mushrooms. That was definitely my favorite.

So then we had to decide, eat more and be very full or quit while ahead and go for dessert. So we went dessert route, ordered some sort of pumpkin thing and it was SO yummy that I forgot to take a picture.

Overall, another great meal here in Portugal and definitely a good spot in the oddly quiet Douro Valley. Enjoying the leisurely eating pace here. It’s nice not to have to shovel a plate down in between emails :)

Day Three: Onward to Porto
