Hi!

Thanks for visiting my website! I hope you find some useful travel tips, yummy restaurants to check out, or are at least amused and entertained by a few good stories.

Plaza de Armas and Chaufas

Plaza de Armas and Chaufas

Yesterday was Day 2 in Lima. After the beach we walked around Lima Centro and the plaza de armas. We haven’t don’t a walking tour yet so I’m not sure on what all the buildings are actually. The first picture is in front of La Catedral–we glanced inside and saw a wedding one night, it was beautiful but we haven’t had a chance to go inside.

We spent a lot of money on food during Day 1 so we were a bit more cost effective Day 2. Peruvian Chinese food is a thing. Very popular and known as “Chifas”. We went to a place recommended by the tour book called Wa Lok. The most interesting part of this was the walk over to Wa Lok. We went through a very authentic market which was crowded and confusing. It’s also difficult here to get around because street signs are limited. This is also the first time I have traveled and know that we stand out very obviously as tourists so taking the map out would be awkward. Still, everyone we have met here is extremely nice and accommodating.

Anyway, Wa Lok. Honestly it just tasted like Chinese food. We had fried rice with pork and shrimp and Duck cooked with peaches and sesame sauce. Adam drank an Inka Cola which is everywhere. It’s very sweet and citrusy and a little gross. We also shared a bottle of wine which means that I was drunk by the time we left.

We took an uber down to an Amazonian bar called “Amaz” in Miraflores….except Amaz closes at 5pm on Sundays as did most places in that area so we took the uber for nothing.

Staying in Central Lima was not really "central".  Almost any good places to eat or drink are in Miraflores.  We have had to take a cab or uber pretty much anywhere we want to go.

We've made it to Cusco!
