Hi!

Thanks for visiting my website! I hope you find some useful travel tips, yummy restaurants to check out, or are at least amused and entertained by a few good stories.

Beach Day

Beach Day

Went to the beach yesterday and touched the Pacific Ocean for the first time. Water was cold but it was quite hot outside. Also pretty crowded and the beach is stones not sand. It was nice to relax but I felt like we didn’t see enough of Lima. Uber is a blessing when traveling in a big city. $5-10 to get anywhere. The beach was a 45 min drive from where we are staying in Lima.

I felt that the beach was an authentic experience, there were certainly no other gringos there!  But I was envisioning something very different than hot stones and cold water.  I imagined beautiful sand and resort like-relaxation.  Towels on the rocks was not quite comfortable.

On the walk back from the beach to find and uber/taxi, we passed all these street food stands: people selling chicken and rice, fresh ceviche, churros, and some other items I don't know.  This food was all very inexpensive, but I was too nervous to eat any of it.  I'm not sure how I fell about raw fish being out in the hot sun before it is served.  Especially with my non-stop tummy ache.  I did try a churro (33 cents) but it was terrible. Dry, old, stale.

We are about to board the plane to Cusco. The pre-flight anxiety is starting. Despite my being exhausted, I imagine my heart will be pounding and the adrenaline will keep me awake for the flight. Luckily it’s only an hour so I won’t torture Adam with my craziness for too long.
