Day Six: Vis
(Side note: woke this morning because of the motion of the boat. Totally jealous that people can sleep through this. I’ve got my little sea bands on currently.)
Breakfast at 9, swim stop at 10, lunch at 1. Staying in the water in a little floatie tube for hours and then laid in the sun and finished the book I was reading, “People You Meet On Vacation”. It was very good!
Lunch was beet risotto (best item so far), breaded pork chop, and cheesecake. I forgot to take pictures of the last two!
Docked in Vis around 3 and I decided to go out and explore right away. Took a walk along the promenade stopping into some shops and buying a few little gifts. It’s hard to shop since I’m always worried about room in my suitcase. Had a delicious Oreo gelato, maybe the best thing I’ve eaten so far on this trip. Vis is my favorite island so far as it felt the least touristy and had many options for food and wine and artsy little shops.
There are positives and negatives to a group trip like this. I went on a solo trip but now I’m with people all day every day. Which is nice to have company when you want it, but sometimes tough to say “I want to do this and not interested in going with the group.”
After walking, it was hot of course (also decided I will never come to Europe in the middle of summer again) so I went back to the boat and had a gin and tonic on the deck. Many people were going on a 6pm walk up another hill but I decided I would do my own wine and “tapas” tour. Another woman, Libby joined me on the self made tour.
First stop was a cute little place where I had another gin and tonic and a cheese plate. It was yummy, but nothing special. The place was lovely scenery. Next we ventured into a cocktail bar on the recommendation that it was cute and each had a glass of wine. None of the food spoke to us so we just had wine. It was super cute garden area but within some walls so with no breeze we were both very hot and left quickly.
We walked for a bit after that and found our group who were going to a 9pm movie. I bought a ticket but wasn’t really sold on going. We tried to find a place for dinner, checked out a few menus, and decided on pizza and salad and more wine.
The thing is…I want good food. I want a meal that wows me, and really haven’t found anything like this. :/
I skipped the movie, laid on the sun deck, and listened to the sounds of the water for a bit before sleeping.
