One of my least favorite parts of traveling is trying to decide where to have dinner every night. Of course I love looking up places to eat in advance but when we are actually in the moment of hunger and decision making, I hate wandering the streets trying to figure out where to sit down. This is also exacerbated by my terrible sense of direction which has led me to walk in circles around Lagos a few nights in a row.
One of the restaurants we had on our list was Real Portuguese Cuisine. It had great reviews and was supposedly just around the block from our apartment. We had trouble finding it the first night but decided to try again.
The food was delicious but we were so hungry that the pictures aren’t great :) We drank their house red wine which came out warm (pet peeve) and worse the waitress tried to correct me when I asked for an ice bucket.
The appetizer was some sort of fondue type dish. Melted cheeses and bread and honey. Three of my favorite foods mixed together.
For mains we ordered Filet Mignon with a mushroom sauce and Black Pork Cheeks with a red wine sauce. Both were as delicious as they sound. Obviously the steak was so irresistible that we couldn’t even manage to take a picture. I think this is when Corrine said “I’m more dedicated to your blog than you!” And I agreed. Yes everyone is more dedicated to this project than I am. Haha.
After dinner Cor went right to sleep. She was suffering from exhaustion all day and needed to rest up for another day on Juliana’s military vacation schedule. Meanwhile I stayed up with our neighbors and drank more wine. Cest la vie!
