Gdansk to Warsaw is a 6 hour train ride. Unfortunately just short enough that it isn't an overnight train but also way too long for comfort. I chose for us to be on the train from 10am-4pm.
This train was not like the nice one we accidentally took to Malbork Castle. It was 8 seats in a car with no air conditioning, no outlets, no wifi, no table, no food or drinks. This train hasn't been remodeled in probably 20 years. The worst part was that we have been on 3 trains this trip and all of them were nicer than this one. I'm not sure how I booked those tickets. We didn't know that it would be 6 hours without food!
I could tell Papa and Uncle Mark were not comfortable. It was too close to the others to even sleep. About 3 hours in we were all getting hungry. Thank goodness just as Uncle Mark was trying to ask people in Polish if they served food on the train (to which they said "Nie") a little cart with snack came around, like the black market of snacks. We bought enough to be happy until 4:00.
Arrived in Wrocław, (pronounced vrots-wahv) , dropped our stuff at the hostel, and quickly took an uber to get food. We went to a Czech restaurant called Ceska because I wanted knedlickem-delicious bread dumplings. Uncle Mark started with a beer, half pilsner and half goat skin, or something like that.
We all ordered pork ribs as I believe we were perogied out. They were good. I forgot to take a picture because I was so hungry. Papa and Uncle Mark loved the ribs, I thought they were ok. We were eating outside and it started becoming cloudy and rainy. Then it began to drizzle so Papa went inside but Mark and I stayed trying to finish quickly. Then, the sky opened up and it started pouring. We grabbed our food and ran inside but everything was already soaked. The waitresses showed no notice of the rain. There were umbrellas outside but they didn't open them claiming they were broken. I had left my wine outside and since the girl said she would charge me for a second glass, I went on a rescue mission. Thank goodness for Adams rain coat.
The rain stopped as quickly as it began and the sun returned. We ventured onward on the main drag and made it to the town square. Wow. Beautiful, colorful, old looking buildings all around.

After watching some street performers ( the boys were fascinated by this crazy lady who was squeezing her body through a tennis racket) we moved on to some drinks and dessert.
Na zdrovie! Wrocław is beautiful! Leave me a comment below and tell me what you think!
