Hi!

Thanks for visiting my website! I hope you find some useful travel tips, yummy restaurants to check out, or are at least amused and entertained by a few good stories.

After not sleeping all night because of a fear of getting murdered in my sleep, we woke up in our freezing cold room and went down to eat some breakfast. More bread but this time with butter and jelly and honey and cheese and actually some eggs too! I don’t think I’ve mentioned the fresh orange juice yet. It’s very yummy. It seems Morocco produces a lot of oranges, clementines, and almonds.

Back in the car we drove to a Berbere village which are sort of nomadic mountain communities who rely off crops and wool to survive. It was very pretty in this area and nice to see some greenery as Morocco seems to be very red and brown and dusty.

In this village we watched a demonstration on how they make their beautiful carpets. Some are made with lamb wool, camel hair, and agave silk. The softest one was baby camel hair. They showed us a lot of carpets and I had wanted to buy one before I came to Morocco but I had read that they are very expensive since everything is handmade and original and unique. I asked for prices on a few and told them I would not spend more than 100 usdollars and I wanted something with orange in it (to hang on the wall in the living room). They were very accommodating and not at all pushy like the other sales people have been so I bought the house a new tapestry. The man was explaining how to clean the wool and I said “no ones feet are going to touch this!” Much too nice to be walked on :)

After the carpet and using a very scary bethroom, we moved over to this rock bend which I believe is Dades Gorge. Yes people climb up these routes, I asked. Our guide says he is a rock climbing guide too and leads people up these routes. Nicole and I mostly enjoyed it for the pictures!

Then we drove and drove some more. Stopped for an unexciting lunch. I took pictures but it was not really worth writing  about. But finally, after all this time in the car, we look out and see the dunes. It was amazing...on one side, flat black sand as far as the eye can see, on the other side, mountains of red and pink and orange sand.
