Hi!

Thanks for visiting my website! I hope you find some useful travel tips, yummy restaurants to check out, or are at least amused and entertained by a few good stories.

Dublin to Lagos on Ryanair

Dublin to Lagos on Ryanair

The only downside to the K Club was a lack of air conditioning, something that doesn’t bother me too much in a cool climate because opening the windows is a great solution. Except when there are crows making noise from 5am on, so I was quite sleepy when I finally got up around 8.

We met Julie and her parents for breakfast around 9 in the beautiful dining room. I looked such a mess. Felt so good on Saturday night and was so messy Sunday morning with no makeup, glasses, and a bun.

Chris and I headed to the spa after breakfast and spent a little time in the jacuzzi. We had to check out by 1 and leave by 2 for a flight at Dublin airport at 4:40pm. We decided to fly Ryanair rather than AerLingus not because it was so much cheaper, but because of the timing of the flight options. Ryanair is a budget airline and when we went to check in, had to pay an extra $50 per person to check our bags. I thought I bought a ticket with a checked bag but c’est la vie.

We were though security by 3 and checked the gate. The flight was supposed to board at 4:10, and the gate was switched at 4pm. Since it was a short flight (3 hours) I decided not to take a Xanax. I was so anxious. Once they changed the gate I had to basically watch the flight board until it was time to board in case they moved it again.

It took a while but when we finally did line up to board, we stood online for 15 mins. Then we then got stuffed into a stairwell for another 10 mins instead of boarding the plane. Finally we were on the plane and taking off around 5:30 instead. I didn’t cry, but I also was not comfortable at all without my clutch pills. Every time the plane made even a little bump, I was awake! But we both caught about 30 mins each of sleeping which is better than nothing.

I enjoyed the flight near the end because we got a nice view!

We landed at 7:55 (25 mins late). Got into the terminal and passport control had a HUGE line. I think we were on that line for an hour, so much longer than I expected considering I didn’t realize that Ireland was not EU.

When we finally got through, we walked to the rental car place (Europcar) and waited another hour between waiting to be helped, the counter guy making too many jokes, and then waiting to find the damn car. Somehow, we didn’t get on the road until almost 10, took an hour to drive to Lagos, then when we arrived, we couldn’t find a place to park. We pulled in somewhere and found the only cheap sushi place still open at 11:25 and ate a quick (and questionable) meal.

With renewed energy, we dropped off our luggage, parked the car, and made it into our super cute place called Casa Margo.

All in all, traveling for nearly 12 hours to get from Dublin to Lagos. Looooong day.
