Dinner at Sigi Ihthios - Naousa, Paros, Greece
We arrived in Paros, promptly rented a car, and drove to our hotel Villa Bellonia. This place is perfect.
I’m sure there are less than 20 rooms and they could definitely charge a lot more than I paid for this. I feel like booking here was a steal! We had a small lunch at the hotel by the pool and then drove to the nearest beach to get into that Mediterranean water!
Rickey cliffs and clear water with sandy beaches all around the island...So many options and so much coastline, if you are willing to hike just a little bit, you can basically have your own private beach.
I had done some research on where to eat in Paros since there was no guidebook to reference. I found a pretty place called Sigi Ihthios which is located on the port next to lots of fishing boats.
We were looking forward to some fresh seafood by the sea. The waiter brought out 5 “fresh catch of the day” gigantic fish on a plate waiting to be cooked. They all smiled at me and I requested that if we order one, can you not have the head on the plate? So we went for it, despite neither of us knowing if we would like it because we’re not really fish people. But first-grilled calamari. I know, I just said I’m not a fish person. But sometimes I have a craving for this....fresh, light, lemon, olive oil, salt...perfect. Exactly what I wanted.
We ordered the snapper and it was super yummy! I didn’t know if I would like fresh fish like that...and as you see I’m the photo: there is a head on the plate! Oh well, it was amazing and the Green wine paired perfectly with it.
Another perk of the dinner, we experienced a beautiful sunset on the water just before the entree was served.
After the sun set, it did get a little chilly. The restaurant had heaters and a light sweater was enough to keep me warm for a late night stroll through the beautiful streets of Naousa.
Leave me a comment if you are reading! Tell me what you think of that fish!!!
