Winery Visits - M Chapoutier
After leaving lunch we were running a tiny bit behind and I checked the itinerary and realized I messed up a bit! I thought we were going to be 10 mins late for our 2:30 appointment but it turns out the appt was at 2:00. Whoops!
We arrived at the wine shop and the young guy there was very nice. He took us for a quick walk to one of the vineyards nearby. Chapoutier owns A LOT of vineyards. The family is known for Rhône but they also have wines in Spain, California, Australia, etc. The Chapoutier family also seems to own much of the city of Tain Hermitage where we were tasting-restaurants, hotels, stores, almost everything on the block was Chapoutier.
When we got back to the shop we tasted some wines but it seems my rep from NY sent the list of wines via email of what we should taste expect they were the same wines that he had already brought me to taste a few weeks ago. Still, the wines are yummy and we did get to taste a few nice bottles.
The highlight of this tasting was meeting a guy named Tom who was traveling all around France for 5 weeks visiting wineries and living the good life. He was a character with a lot of knowledge and good taste.
Chapoutier has a range of wines from 5€ bottles to very expensive bottles. We probably didn’t need to buy any here but we did get a few of course!
