Lunch at Le Cerisier
Not sure what to expect, we arrive at the recommended restaurant to find a Michelin star on the door. We figured we could check the prices on the menu before walking in and if we had to, but we ended up eating there. It was expensive but not crazy, and were also pressed for time.
They immediately bring a little amuse bouche (cheese puff bread, sausage, and some green stuff on a bread crisp with Parmesan) and encourage us to order. Adam orders the daily menu which features some sort of veal dish and I order just a crab cake. We ordered wine as well but at this point I can’t remember anything about wines.
My crab cake arrived and it’s beautiful and perfect. Adams dish arrives and it’s...pâté! Adam does not like pâté!!! He immediately looks said and says that he ordered wrong and didn’t expect that from the dish but of course everything is in French and sometimes there is confusion. He eats a bit of it and then I (fatty) reach across the table and try it-of course it’s delicious. So now I’m eating both lunches and feeling bad about it and Adam is insisting he’s fine even though I know he’s hungry.
After both dishes are basically clean, the waiter takes them away and brings Adam a steak knife! That was only an appetizer! It didn’t say anything about a first course on the menu of the day. Adam smiles big because his lunch has yet to arrive! Success!
Now he has a veal in a white sauce with crispy potatoes on the side. It also came with a little mushroom purée that Adam didn’t love that much but I thought it was a great compliment to the flavors, it was basically a mushroom tapenade.
Now we’re a bit pressed for time but of course we can manage dessert and coffee. The red part is a strawberry mint smoothie, the ice cream was honey flavored and then there was that cute little cookie.
All in all, this was a pleasant lunch and somewhat reasonably priced for a Michelin star restaurant...less than $50 for two lunches with wine is actually a good price. However I think this is when we decided we’re good on the fancy food 😅.
