Hi!

Thanks for visiting my website! I hope you find some useful travel tips, yummy restaurants to check out, or are at least amused and entertained by a few good stories.

Christmas Market in Budapest

Christmas Market in Budapest

Although the main attraction was the Christmas markets, I didn’t take too many pictures! We went to one at Vorosmarty Square where there were lots of pretty lights and Christmas music playing. The stands sold candy and homemade ornaments of wood and dried fruit and jewelry and scarves and basically a craft fair multiplied exponentially. Also in walking around the next day, we found that these markets are all over in many squares throughout the city. Closer to Christmas I imagine these are very magical!

We bought lots of food at the market: a gigantic sausage, two different stuffed cabbages-one with red cabbage on the side, two huge potato pancakes, one topped with a piece of very very thick cut bacon, and a bread bowl of goulash. It was a lot of food between five of us and the bad part of sitting outside was that it all got cold very fast. The stuffed cabbage and goulash were particularly good.

After eating dinner, of course we need a dessert snack. The dessert of Budapest is Chimney Cakes which is basically roasted dough topped with sugar and whipped cream. It was cooked on the outside but kind of raw on the inside, so so delicious.
