Hi!

Thanks for visiting my website! I hope you find some useful travel tips, yummy restaurants to check out, or are at least amused and entertained by a few good stories.

Traveling Home: DBV to EWR

Woke early to get a pastry and coffee nearby but realized I had no Kuna left so had to hope the places would take a card which thankfully both of them did! I had an apple pastry and a cappuccino at a pizza place downstairs where locals were having their morning coffee together.

Quick ride to the airport, the driver had way too much cologne on, thankfully it wasn’t too far. I was at the airport nearly 3 hours early which was probably unnecessary since Dubrovnik airport is one tiny terminal. The employees there are so efficient and nice, such a change from Newark. I had a young man question me (interrogate really) about my trip and where I went while I waited in line. I made him laugh when I told him if he wanted more details I could give him the link to my blog.

The airport barely had anywhere to shop. I had lost my eye mask and was hoping to buy a new one but I couldn’t find it at the one store in the airport. They barely had anywhere to eat and drink while waiting. I met up with Becky and made my own mimosa.

Our flight was supposed to leave at 12:25pm. At 11:30 we start boarding but instead of getting on the plane they are checking us in to a little holding area. After waiting in line and getting to the front, they stop letting people through. My phone was dying so I convinced them to let me in, got selected for more screening by the same young man who went through my bags looking for drugs? Idk I had a good laugh about how suspicious I must look. Turns out there was no outlet in this holding area, so I lay down with my head on my bag because the Xanax is working and fell asleep there for a few.

Finally they announce “sorry your plane is delayed…a panel fell off and we tried taping it but it’s not staying so we need 12 special clips and we only have 5. TBD on when we can fly.”

Tape? Tape?! Funny but not funny. So I take myself out of the holding area to an outlet, and spent an hour snoozing on a couch. We ended up boarding around 2:30 and taking off at 3.

Plane food was pretty good: vegetable lasagna butttt spot that Ben and Jerry’s in the corner! What a highlight!

Tried watching Madagascar twice and fell asleep both times. Then watched Moana since I figured I could sleep through that but didn’t. Then watched Coco which I have not seen and oh my gosh what a beautiful and sad movie. Then watched Friends which I dozed in and out for hours.

Landed at 7pm ish and went to do my global entry interview. There was a family of four in front of me, we basically walked over together and each of them individually went ahead of me. At first, the son said to the mom “should we let her go first since she’s alone?” And the mom said “no let’s just get this done.” Needless to say, I was super annoyed. They could have waited 8 mins as a family for me but instead I waited 30 mins for them. Karma is a bitch though, the daughters application didn’t go through so I had a sliver of joy through my annoyance. Also at the end the dad said to me “So sorry this took so long” and I replied “it’s okay, it just would have been nice if you let me go first since I was alone” and he said I was right!

Anyway, picked up Chinese food on the way home, ate dinner at 9pm. It is SO nice to be in my own bed. I did wake up a little confused at 4:30 this morning but I went back to sleep and I think this is the most I’ve slept since before I left!

Croatia is done! I’ll probably post one more time, I have some funny side notes to share.
