Dinner at Home Lisbon Hostel
Dinner at the hostel cooked by Mama herself. About 20 people staying at the hostel are all seated at one long table for dinner. Everyone talks to everyone. Unlimited wine and beer during dinner. KayLa and Tim and I quickly made friends wth two other girls, Lauren and Serena.
Sweet Potato and Pumpkin soup to start. Just a teeny bit under-salted but so delicious and definitely something I will attempt to cook for this fall season.
Main course was a little side salad, couscous as the side and the main was chicken slow cooked with tomato and red bell peppers and mushrooms. Simply wonderful food. Just a touch too salty but the chicken was fall of the bone and so moist. I never thought I would love couscous but definitely a new addition to dinner favorites. It was so fluffy.
Finally, mama outdid herself with the “biscuit ice cream” for dessert. It sounded a bit lame at first except as soon as we tasted it, it was heavenly. Like a deconstructed ice cream sandwich but made with the best ice cream ever.
After dinner we went on the pub crawl offered by the hostel. It didn’t even leave the hostel until 11:30pm so we were a few drinks in already but it ended up being not that great of an even. We did have fun singing Shania Twain songs while on line for the club and got to experience the nightlife.
A new day. Time to see castles.
