The End of Portugal 2022
Well friends and fans, I am on a crash diet asap after eating all the food Portugal had to offer.
After Pigmeu on Tuesday, we walked and walked and walked, hoping that would settle the pig in my belly. We stopped in the Time Out Lisboa market (one of my favorite places) for some gelato. Pistachio and Cheesecake flavors. Not sure why I thought that would make me less full. But between the heat and Chris not feeling 100%, we decided to head back to our hotel.
We had dinner reservations for a Michelin restaurant at 7:30 but as it was already 5:30, it was becoming evident that there was no way we could eat another meal. First we thought to push to 9pm but then we got sleepy and I couldn’t decide what was the best thing to do on our last night (with a very full tummy).
Decided on a glass of wine at a wine bar nearby. The ambiance was nice but the service was Eh and the wine selection was eh.
For our final morning we ubered to a recommended cafe “Amelia” that was closed! So instead went to a little bakery for an AMAZING croissant. Definitely top 5.
Then a little walking, the second Pigmeu lunch, some walking and shopping on the main tourist road before airport at 4:30 for 6:30pm flight.
Lisbon airport is odd. Truly felt like we spent that entire two hours getting from the entrance to the plane. I only stopped for 10 minutes to shop!
I cried with anxiety during takeoff because the Xanax doesn’t always work! But managed to sleep 4 of 8 hours of the flight and watched “The Book Thief” which I also sobbed during. Don’t watch sad movies on the plane!
Home sweet home. Still feel like a pork belly. Still love Portugal. Thank you for following my adventures!!!
