We were looking to try a fancier restaurant to celebrate Papa John and Wuyek Mark's birthdays which occurred Friday and Saturday. Rick Steves, my go-to travel book, recommended Dyspensa. It is a white tablecloth restaurant with modernized high end Polish food.
Of course, I had borscht but I asked for the one with cream and potatoes. I got what I wanted but still not exactly what I have been searching for. Papa had bruschetta and Mark had pierogis for appetizer. The bread they served was amazing. Europe basically means "delicious bread" for me.
Papa and I shared a veal cutlet which was delicious and a Chilean Rose that was quite good. We were definitely the loudest table in the restaurant probably owing a lot to the fact that Uncle Mark and I had drinks before dinner as well.
Post dinner we stopped at a bakery, Blikle, famous for their packi (doughnuts). The lady gave us recommendations, we looked around, attempted to order, and then she said "no were closed. We close at 22." Except it was not 22 yet but it was super odd and typically polish unfriendliness so we left.
We concluded the evening with more drinks and dessert near the Royal Castle. Nice view with the Meringue and Cheesecake but the food really wasn't good. As usual it's either good food or nice view, very rarely both.
