Hi!

Thanks for visiting my website! I hope you find some useful travel tips, yummy restaurants to check out, or are at least amused and entertained by a few good stories.

Poland Itinerary

10 full days in Poland!

10 full days in Poland!

In just 4 days I will be off to Poland for a "family" trip.  I put family in quotes because it is a small family, just my dad and uncle, and my brother who isn't really my brother.

(I haven't been writing as much and I hope I will be back on track during this trip.  My goal with this new website was to frame my blog entries as more useful travel information rather than pointless wanderings of my mind.  But I feel that everyone has a website now and travel blogs are too common and I'm not that good of a writer...blah blah blah. )

But on to Poland: 10 days, 3 cities : Warsaw, Gdansk, and Wroclaw.  We traveled to Krakow last year and loved the colorful houses, the authentic people, and the non-stop pierogies.  Babci told us we are from the North of Poland near Gdania (Gdansk) so we are setting off to wear we started from.  However, through research and questions, it seems most of our ancestors lived in Vilna (Vilnus) which is now the capital of Lithuania.  At the time they lived there, it was Russian held territory in Poland. We won't visit Vilnus on this trip, but maybe someday in the future.

One of my obsessions in Poland is Borscht. Babci introduced me to a warm pink borscht with potatoes and cream.  This was non-existent in Krakow last year, I only found borscht with meat dumplings.  This time I started my research earlier.  It seems this version of borscht is considered Lithuanian borsch (go figure) and thats why it is hard to find in Poland.  I am starting my research early this time and I have taken to emailing restaurants to check if they have the borscht I am in search of.

Czesc!
