Hi!

Thanks for visiting my website! I hope you find some useful travel tips, yummy restaurants to check out, or are at least amused and entertained by a few good stories.

Lourve Day!

Lourve Day!

On the way back to the hostel the night before, we saw so many boulangeries and Creperies that we figured we would have to pass one in the morning. So off we went at 9am for an hour walk to the lourve with plans to stop for breakfast. It was rainy but only light rain as we started.

We walked and walked and saw nothing that met our fancy but as the rain increased, we had to duck into a fancy coffee bar where we had two yummy cortados and a piece of banana bread. Good but not satisfying.

We continued to walk and walk towards the lourve and still did not pass anything exciting. We were wet and hungry and I said “if we pass a McDonald’s we’re stopping there” and then we turned a corner and there were the Golden Arches! Yes, I love some French McNuggets. They are so much better here. I even convinced Rebecca of the McDonald’s overseas glory.

The rain increased when we left McDonald’s, and we still were about 10 minutes walk away. As we got closer, it was now pouring and we’re trying to figure out which of the many lines is for us. We got in to the ticket holder line with our 11:30 tickets at about 10:45. We watched the very very long non-ticket holder line all get to go in while we stood in the torrential downpour.

We look happy, but truly this moment tested all of my travel patience. We were absolutely drenched through our pants and shoes and waited about 40 minutes in that line to the point where I said to Rebecca “what are we even going to see in the lourve?” So we laughed and laughed and we’re going to give the lourve a one star review on TripAdvisor for being an overrated tourist trap.

About 10 minutes after we got inside, the weather outside looked perfect. 😭

We wandered all around the museum with our wet shoes, saw lots of sculptures and paintings, and ate a museum sandwich. I really think we covered a lot of ground there. We got in at 11:30 and left around 3pm.

After the museum, Rebecca walked over to the catacombs but I was a little scared to go underground so I skipped out and wandered around instead. I saw a beautiful church (St. Suplice?) and had an aperol spritz. It’s truly insane how tall these old buildings are. I can’t really fathom how they were built.

For dinner, we couldn’t choose a spot so we decided on a tapas tour of Paris which actually turned into a pub crawl. The first wine bar was super cool and the food was delicious. While we were there, the rugby World Cup was on! Argentina was playing a team with the initials “SAM” to which I said to Rebecca “I wonder what that stands for…samurais? Saudi Arabian men?” And then the guy in front of me turned around and said “it’s Samoa, you are going to annoy me if you keep guessing” lololol amazing sir. I can be more annoying, just wait!

After that, we stopped in here and there and everywhere. I think we went to maybe 6 places. I don’t feel great this morning, that’s for sure!

It was all going so well and then we walked home to the wrong place. After a 30,000 step day, you really don’t want to walk to the wrong place at midnight. So an extra 30 minute walk and finally made it back….maybe the most tired I’ve ever been. Although also feel very tired this morning too 🤪
