Ancient Agora and Acropolis Museum
The agora was the market place of Ancient Greece. This is where people gathered to shop, discuss philosophy, argue politics, and probably gossip as well. Of course now, it is mostly a field of ruins. However the Stoa was restored and now functions as a museum!
The Temple of Hephaestus is very well preserved and we did enjoy looking at that site for a bit. After being used as a Greek temple it was then used as a church. On the back, there was visible damage from bullet holes during the war.
We took a break during the hot afternoon hours and went to the Acropolis Museum. This is where they have all of the statues etc from the Acropolis to keep them better preserved.
At some point before or after the museum, Adam found these little hillside houses painted white with blue doors like you expect on the islands. We had fun exploring the narrow pathways and climbing up and down staircases. The only downside—my Bobs are not slip resistant at all! The bottoms are already warn down and I fell—twice. Ugh. Luckily not serious at all but definitely embarrassing!
We stoped back at the room for showers before hitting the town for dinner.
