Hi!

Thanks for visiting my website! I hope you find some useful travel tips, yummy restaurants to check out, or are at least amused and entertained by a few good stories.

Life in Ston

Life in Ston

We woke Friday morning and attempted to use the espresso machine. Rebecca did a great job of making us coffees. Our Airbnb host baked us some apple cake which we heated up and had for first breakfast.

We took our coffees and mats down to the water with a card game (quiddler!) and spent some chill time on the rocks. Fun, but so many big flying beetle bugs.

After cards we went back and made a second breakfast of eggs and leftover risotto and bread. It was pretty yummy. This was about when the t mobile man fixed our wifi. We asked him about where to buy fresh fish and produce. He told us about a farm stand type place in Ston which we decided we would try to go to the next morning.

No pictures of lunch because we were hungry. Then some relax time in the sun and shade with books. It was a bit windy so even though I really wanted to try to get to the restaurant across the water from us, it was way too cold and windy to attempt to kayak with the risk of falling in.

We thought about trying to take out this little boat at the house but it was absolutely filthy and when I asked the Airbnb host she replied “NO NO NO” in all caps like that so no boat.

Eventually we decided that we would go to Mali Ston and have dinner there. Mali Ston is about an hour walk from where we are staying. We figured by the time we get there, we would be hungry.

The walk wasn’t terrible but it wasn’t quick either. However it was absolutely worth it.

We went to a nice restaurant that I had found via Instagram and guess what? We had seafood by the sea!

First, a bottle of rosé with an R for Rebecca.

Complimentary little bites: some sort of fish butter, spring rolls, and shrimp in olive oil. All a strong yummy start to our meal.

We ordered Dalmatian ham, which is basically prosciutto. But the bread with fish butter and prosciutto on top? Chefs kiss. I was full from that.

Then we ordered Wiener schnitzel as an app because it was only 20€.

We had a 1.2g sea bass as our dinner which came with potatoes and veggies! It was delicious!!!

For dessert, the waiter convinced us that we should try some sort of native macaroni cake. It was essentially as Rebecca said “imagine lasagna, but instead of sauce you put brown sugar.” I didn’t think it was terrible, but Rebecca and Bella both thought it was gross.

After dinner we had an hour walk back home but first we took some fun sunset photos.
